A Meaningful Memorial Day

Dear Friend,

Today is Memorial Day, an important reminder to remember and honor all military personnel who have died in the service of our country, along with their families.

Each one of us has the power to stand up for our Democracy and pay homage to those who have served our country. As a member of the Florida House of Representatives’ Local, Federal, and Veterans Affairs Sub-Committee it’s been an incredible responsibility to advocate on issues that impact the lives of our military personnel and their families.

It’s why I fight unapologetically for health care access, affordable housing, increased funding for mental health and PTSD programs, support of Florida’s National Guard and transparency during COVID19 especially for our assisted living facilities.

The New York Times reported that coronavirus has spread in more than 40 veterans’ homes in more than 20 states, leading to the deaths of at least 300 people. This should enrage us all, and motivate our community to recommit in ensuring the health and well-being of our veterans.

We honor those who are no longer with us through action, and wish you all a meaningful Memorial Day.

Onward,

Representative Anna V. Eskamani
